The Database Administrator is responsible for the administration, performance, security, and reliability of the organization’s database platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. This role supports SQL Server (self-hosted), SQL Server Managed Instance, Azure SQL, Managed PostgreSQL, and InfluxDB to ensure databases are available, scalable, and operating efficiently. The position manages backup and recovery, monitoring, patching, performance tuning, and overall database health. It also supports database change management and release automation using Flyway and GitHub Actions, with Jenkins as a secondary tool where applicable. The DBA partners closely with both the application, infrastructure, and Business Intelligence teams to support deployments, troubleshoot issues, and improve operational standards. This will also require general DevOps responsibilities. This role also contributes to the evaluation of strategic data platforms, including Snowflake, as business needs evolve.

The hiring range for this position in Florida is $76,800 to $115,200 per year and in California is $86,800 to $130,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
This role may also be eligible for additional compensation such as a bonus or long-term incentive units.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain the organization’s database platforms across SQL Server (self-hosted), SQL Server Managed Instance, Azure SQL, Managed PostgreSQL, and InfluxDB environments.
- Ensure database availability, reliability, and operational stability for production and non-production systems that support business applications, reporting, and data services.
- Manage database performance and capacity to support current operations and future growth requirements.
- Own database backup, recovery, and restoration responsibilities to protect data integrity and support business continuity.
- Monitor overall database health and address operational issues affecting uptime, performance, security, or data access.
- Implement and support database changes, releases, and migrations across environments to enable application and platform updates.
- Maintain database security and access controls to safeguard systems and data in accordance with organizational standards.
- Support patching, maintenance, and lifecycle management of database platforms across on-premises and cloud-hosted environments.
- Partner with application, infrastructure, and Business Intelligence teams to support deployments, resolve incidents, and meet business data needs.
- Support DevOps-related database and overall software activities associated with deployment processes, environment readiness, and release coordination.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and service interruptions to minimize business impact.
- Develop and maintain database operational standards, documentation, and support procedures for consistency and continuity.
- Evaluate and support emerging database and data platform technologies that may be adopted to meet future business needs, including Snowflake

- Support database environments used for development, testing, staging, and training activities.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance activities affecting database systems and related services.
- Assist with database provisioning, refreshes, cloning, and environment setup needs.
- Support data integration, reporting, and business intelligence data availability requirements.
- Review and maintain database jobs, scheduled tasks, and routine processing activities.
- Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and evidence gathering related to database platforms.
- Maintain database inventory, configuration records, and platform documentation.
- Contribute to incident follow-up, problem tracking, and service improvement efforts.
- Support user and team requests related to database access, connectivity, and operational issues.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal support teams on database-related service issues.
- Participate in technology upgrades, platform transitions, and database consolidation efforts.
- Support evaluation, onboarding, and operational readiness for new database-related tools or services.
- Provide input on capacity planning, platform standards, and future database needs.
- Assist in maintaining data retention, archival, and housekeeping activities.
- Participate in on-call support or after-hours response as required by business operations.

- Experience administering and supporting SQL Server in self-hosted/on-premises environments.

- Experience supporting InfluxDB or comparable time-series database platforms.
- Experience with database backup, recovery, restore, and high availability responsibilities.
- Experience with database performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience managing database security, permissions, and access controls.
- Experience supporting database change management, schema updates, and release activities.
- Experience using Flyway for database version control and migrations for SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Experience supporting deployment automation and release processes using GitHub Actions.
- Experience with Jenkins in support of deployment or release activities is preferred.
- Experience supporting databases across both on-premises and cloud-based platforms.
- Experience partnering with application, infrastructure, and Business Intelligence teams to support operational and project needs.
- Experience troubleshooting production incidents and supporting mission-critical database systems.
- Experience evaluating or supporting modern data platforms is required, e.g. Snowflake.
- Experience using Delinea or similar privileged access management tools to support secure administrative access to database platforms.
Other Training, Technical Skills, or Knowledge Required:
- Strong knowledge of relational database administration concepts, including availability, recovery, performance, security, and capacity management.
- Knowledge of cloud database services and hybrid database environments spanning on-premises and Azure-hosted platforms.
- Knowledge of SQL Server, Azure SQL, SQL Server Managed Instance, Managed PostgreSQL, and InfluxDB platform operations.
- Knowledge of database change management, schema versioning, and release coordination.
- Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps concepts related to database deployments and environment support.
- Proficiency in GitHub Actions; working knowledge of Jenkins is preferred.
- Knowledge of Flyway for SQL Server and PostgreSQL database migration and release management.
- Proficiency in writing and troubleshooting SQL queries, scripts, stored procedures, and database jobs.
- Knowledge of backup, restore, disaster recovery, and high availability concepts for enterprise database systems.
- Knowledge of database monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and incident response practices.
- Understanding of database security principles, access management, and data protection standards.
- Knowledge of business intelligence, reporting, and application support dependencies on database platforms.
- Familiarity with Snowflake and general knowledge of modern cloud data platform concepts is preferred.
